No Alcohol in Chimacum Passive Open Space Area
“In the State of Washington it is illegal to open or consume alcoholic beverages in a public place" (see Title 66.44.100 of the RCW). This law applies in all Jefferson County parks, campgrounds, and recreation facilities. Exceptions to this law can be granted by the Washington State Liquor Control Board (see Title 314 of the WAC) in the form of a banquet permit or a special occasion license for example. All proposals to serve alcohol at an event in a Jefferson County Park are subject to approval by Jefferson County. For more information please contact Matt Tyler at 360-385-9129 or mtyler@countyrec.com.

Forestry Thinning Project
In 2020 Jefferson County launched a pilot forest management program to improve forest health and safety through ecological forest management practices including thinning, mulching, and re-planting. Chimacum Park was the first forest to be restored. Overcrowding was reduced and trees with root rot were removed. Fire risk and hazard trees were also reduced. Forest monitoring will continue to ensure that native plants establish in the understory, trees are healthy, and unstable trees are managed. Contact Jefferson County Parks to find ways to get involved and learn more about forest restoration. (360-385-9160).
