Fall Soccer Cancelled - 7/29/2020

Dear Coaches, Players, and Families
On Tuesday, July 28th, Gov. Inslee announced an indefinite pause on the advancement of counties to the next phase of the state’s Safe Start Plan. This means Jefferson County will remain in Phase 2 until further notice. Phase 2 does not allow for outdoor sports activities such as soccer games, and unfortunately, we have to cancel our fall rec soccer league.

We hope to re-start our rec soccer league in the spring.

Full refunds will be issued automatically to all paid participants. A confirmation of your refund will be sent when it is processed.

Our team wishes the best to your family as you weather the storm. We appreciate your patience and, understanding and we hope to see you out on the field in the spring. Meanwhile take care, stay safe, and stay in touch.

Sincerely Yours
Chris Macklin

COVID-19 Safety Rules-
Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Fall Soccer League
COVID-19 Safety Rules
Draft 3 June 23, 2020

1. Washington Phase 3 allows up to 50 people per athletic field, including players, coaches, and parents. Each game will have 20 to 25 players. Please keep the following equation in mind:

25 players + one parent per player = 50 people

By following the 50 person limit, we can all stay safe and enjoy our league. Not following the limit puts our health and our league at risk of closure.

There can be more than one athletic field per park: HJ Carroll will have 3, Memorial Field will have 2, and Irondale Community park will have 1. Please stay at your field. Going to another field could exceed the 50 person limit for that field.

2. Self-screening is required: any players or spectators, who are under quarantine, or have had any of the following COVID-19 symptoms in the previous 72 hours are not allowed to attend any Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Fall Soccer event: cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, or a new loss of taste or smell. Any individual who develops or displays any of these symptoms must remove themselves, or be removed by their parents or caregivers from the event immediately. Coaches and staff have the right to ask parents and caregivers to remove any individual they observe with these symptoms.

3. All attendees must wash their hands or use hand sanitizer regularly; at least before they enter the event, after they use the restroom, immediately after the game, and when they leave the event.

4. A minimum of 6’ distance from household members, and face coverings are required in Washington State (when unable to maintain at least 6’ distance from non-household members) 2 except: players are not required to wear face coverings, and are not required to maintain 6’ distance when they are actively playing. Players should wear face coverings and maintain 6’ distance when they are sitting on the sidelines. It is encouraged that all spectators wear face coverings at all times.

Season
Welcome to Jefferson County’s Fall 2020 Soccer Program. Our objective for youth sports is to help young athletes not only become better players but also better people. We recognize that not every athlete can be on the winning team, but every participant can be a winner in the Soccer Program.

Team T-shirts will be given out as soon as they come in. Shirts are ordered after teams are created, so occasionally there will be a delay in shirt availability for late registrations.

The Soccer program is designed with the family in mind. Please take an interest in your child by participating with him/her during practices and at home. Practice on skills that he/she learns from the coach. Be a role model in leading by example during games so that your children will learn to control their frustrations if things don’t go their way. Parents must stay calm and quiet on the sidelines. Yelling instructions is not allowed. Coaches and Rec Staff are required to control unruly parents, not the officials.

Thank you again for your participation. We look forward to serving you through the Fall Soccer program. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to call me or stop in at the Rec. Center any time. Chris Macklin, Assistant Manager / voice: 360-385-2221 / email: cmacklin@countyrec.com
